Celebrating the Life & Legacy of Leopold Segedin
Thursday, January 23, 2025 - As we were coming out of the frigid temperatures in mid January, the museum had a warm and heartfelt reception on a Thursday evening among friends, family, and old acquaintances who knew Leopold Segedin over the decades that he practiced and taught art. While he passed away the morning that the exhibition was open to the public, we were grateful for this moment of joyful remembrance surrounded by his presence through his work and the stories that were shared.
Remarks from NVAM Executive Director, Giselle Futrell, and treasurer, Brendan Foster, were shared. Leo's son, Paul, spoke about the work on display and shared a moment with a group of Wounded Warrior's who were inspired by the work.
Paul shared that the family will be donating works to the museum so that visitors will be introduced to the art of his father as a part of the NVAM permanent collection.
We are grateful for the Segedin family for sharing this moment with us and we're excited to bring Leo's work to a broader audience in the future. In these moments of great loss we find that coming together in community helps mend hearts, nurture connection, and foster empathy. Leo lived a life of connection and our hope is to share that through his work. The exhibition, Leopold Segedin, Conflict & Confrontation, will be on display through October of 2025.
We look forward to seeing you at the museum.
